CICAD, the Cebu Institute of Contemporary Art and Design, is the pendant of the necklace and will be the permanent home of an expanding collection of paintings by Filipino artists, both national masters and emerging talents, Cebuano design, as well as temporary exhibitions. The Institute and Museum is a gift to Cebu intended to provide wide public access to prized artwork, a performance space, library and spaces for cultural workshops and exchange. The institute sits proudly on the mountaintop of Busay above Cebu City. The institute’s buildings are arranged like a small village interwoven by a landscape of art.  The landscape flows between galleries, terraces, courts, and gardens — all in the shade of a series of canopies inspired by the anahaw leaf.
