Together with ARK (Advancement for Rural Kids) and the Agsilab Public School in Capiz, Philippines, we have designed a reading hut.  The structure provides a sheltered retreat for children to enjoy reading while surrounded by a lush garden landscape. It takes precedent from Philipine huts, the “bahay-kubo” and “tambayan”. Its form and materiality stem rom a familiar vernacular type and re-introduced as a structure to relax, play, and commune.
